BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick High School girls jayvee Orange basketball team out-scored rival Mt. Ararat in each quarter as the Dragons defeated the Eagles, 51-24 on Friday.
Caitlyn Smith was a two-way standout for Mt. Ararat, leading all scorers with 15 points.
Brunswick was paced by a balance scoring effort as five Dragons evenly split 30 points. Emily LaRochelle led the Dragons with 12 points. Haile Cummings paced the Dragons defense, while MacKenzie Burrows grabbed 12 rebounds for Brunswick.
The Dragons looked to put the game away early with a 10-4 first-quarter advantage, but the Eagles, led by Miki Maeda and Smith, battled the Dragons throughout the second quarter as Brunswick took a 25-14 halftime lead.
Brunswick out-scored the Eagles, 26-10, over the final two quarters.
Brunswick concludes its season today at Lewiston.
