Japanese manufacturer Toyota has relaunched its ever-popular RAV4 compact SUV for 2013. Yes, re-launched, because this small truck has been completely redesigned. The newer RAV4 is larger by just under one inch and longer by just over an inch; it’s a slight difference but it’s one that makes the vehicle look more impressive than ever. Only one engine is available under the hood, and it’s a good one: all buyers will receive the very reliable 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder Toyota powerplant, now hooked to a six-speed automatic transmission. There is no longer a V-6 available in the RAV4 catalogue. Of course, the new RAV4 is also available with an all-wheel-drive system. The interior has also been restyled, although it still features the old SUV’s clean lines, easily readable instruments, and conveniently positioned knobs. The new RAV4 can still carry five passengers but it can do it on taller and longer seats. Second-row seats, which can recline to add more cargo space in the back if needed, can easily accommodate tall passengers. Note that most RAV4s sold in North America are built in Woodstock, Ontario.
