Nissan has completely redesigned its very popular sedan for 2013. Fans need not worry, though: the sedan still carries the best of last year’s model. Nissan is a major player in the midsized segment, and the company obviously recognizes the need to keep stimulating and pleasing regular customers. The Altima’s new design includes continued roominess for passengers. It is available in four trim options, including the base model, the S, the SV, and the luxurious SL. This frontwheel drive car has a base four-cylinder 2.5-liter engine that generates 182 horsepower. Although that model was engineered for better fuel economy, die-hards can still buy the optional 3.5-liter V-6, which churns out 270 horsepower. Notably, Nissan insists on using continuously variable automatic transmissions to attain the best fuel economy possible for most of its models. Consequently, all Altimas come equipped with CVT engines.
