To the Editor:
I support Angus King to become Maine’s United States senator in the Nov. 6 election.
We need someone in Washington to help the country get out of the current logjam and pass legislation for the common good. Tested as a leader by serving as governor of Maine for eight years, Angus has demonstrated that, as an independent, he can work with members of both parties.
His record in supporting education shows he looks both to the present and the future of our state and country. The laptop computer distribution program is a fine example of an investment in students for their and our future.
Angus stands up for women’s reproductive rights. He recognizes universal access to family planning will not only support women, but also affect our economy by reducing unintended pregnancies.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
