Dan graduated from Morse High School in Bath and served proudly in the Army during the Korean War. Dan married the former Jacqueline Purdy of Bath. After a short period of work at Bath Iron Works, Dan found employment with Electrolux and had an extraordinarily successful career spanning over 50 years.
Dan enjoyed boating, lobstering, fishing and clam digging. Dan had a green thumb and could grow almost anything including blueberries, figs, raspberries and tomatoes, always growing enough to share with neighbors and family. Dan was a fierce competitor whether it was cribbage, croquet, or any other event enduring hours of torture at the hands of his brothers, son and friends.
Dan loved the sun and drove convertibles for years. He traveled to many places but most of the time it was to someplace warm and sunny.
Dan could often be found preparing meals for a friendly and welcome crowd. He loved the Yarmouth clam festival and often had a better spread in his back yard than they had in the center of town. This was the stuff that memories of Dan were made of.
Dan is survived by his three children: Brenda Holt and husband Michael Stinson of Bath, Kevin Holt and Kathy Dial of West Bath, Michael Holt of Milton, MA and Michael’s mother, Lou Ann Carter Moore.
Dan is also survived by a sister Bonolyn Page and husband Bob of Georgetown, MA, brothers David Holt of Bath and Gregory Choquette and wife Barbara of Old Town; grandchildren Tiffany King and William King, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dan’s extended family includes Morris E. Carter and two children and Lisa A. Carter Cummings and five children all of Florida. Dan enjoyed many special enduring moments with his former high school sweetheart Jean McRae of Bath.
