OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Alumni Association kicked off its 2018 fundraising efforts March 9 with the annual Alumni Basketball Classic. After losing the past two years to the high school boys and girls, the alumni Team pulled it out with a victory.

On Saturday March 24, the alumni sponsoreds the Savor the Flavor Trolley Dinner in conjunction with OOB365. It appears this may become an annual event and was sold out as the association raises money for scholarships.

Up next for the alumni is the Scholarship Spring Dance. Duffy’s Tavern and Grill will host a dance open to the public from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 7. Tickets are only $10 per person and tables of 8 can be reserved. There will be hundreds of dollars in door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Dance to the hits of all years from the 50s to present day music .

Tickets are moving quickly and are on sale at MacDonald’s Garage in OOB, Prime Honda in Saco, and Brady’s Screen print in Biddeford. For more information, call 423-2975.

Help the association raise money for tomorrow’s future leaders and assist them with scholarships to help with their education.

The association welcomes Sharri MacDonald, Class of 1990, a longtime Old Orchard Beach promoter, school board member, town councilor, and state representative into the Old Orchard Alumni Hall of Fame. We congratulate Sharri as 2017s sole recipient. It is so well deserved as Sharri continues to promote Old Orchard Beach through her family business and OOB365.

The association is currently accepting nominees for the 2018 award to be awarded at The All-School Reunion Weekend kicking off Friday Sept. 14. Details can be found at oobeachalumni.com.

The Alumni is still collecting bottle and cans from locals and local businesses with money going to the Scholarship Fund. Call Janet Doherty at 934-2228 for your Clynk Bags.

We look forward to a great 2018 fund-raising season and continued support from the local businesses and fellow members of the group.
