BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College seniors Kendall Schutzer and Vianney Gomezgil Yaspik have been named All-Americans by the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association.
Vianney Gomezgil Yaspik was a three-year starter for the Polar Bears.
At Tight Head Prop, she was dangerous with the ball in hand, ranking among the team leaders with five tries. Defensively, she led the team in poaches (turnovers) and drawing penalties from the opposition.
A co-captain this season, Schutzer was all over the field this year for the Polar Bears. She began the season at outside center, but was moved to scrum half in week three due to injury. She quickly became skilled and adept in her new position and developed a kicking game to complement other skills, while continuing to be one of the team’s leading tacklers and scorers Kendall finished the season with eight tries and eight conversion kicks.
Bowdoin finished another fantastic season with a record of 7-2.
