The Brunswick High School boys soccer team won for the second time in as many games, downing Hampden Academy, 4-2 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference tilt.

Everett Horch scored a pair of second-half goals to seal the victory for the Dragons (2-5).

“Everett was everywhere. Being a sophomore I’ve seen him be a little timid, but today he truly picked up his game, showing confidence,” said Brunswick coach Mark Roma. “He caused fits for them all game, as he was our man for them to match.”

Trailing 1-0, Mats Rasch tied the game 15-minutes in off an assist from Emmet Taub.

Nolan Lyne put the Dragons ahead, nailing a shot from 20-yards out past Broncos goalie Andrew Farnham.

Horch opened the second-half scoring five minutes in with his first goal off an assist from Henry Doherty, making for a 3-1 game.

Lucas Flaherty of Hampden cut the lead to 3-2 with an unassisted goal at the 24:50 mark.

Horch put the final goal in off Doherty’s third assist to seal the victory.

Senior Jared Hummer had six saves in net for Brunswick, while Farnham turned away a dozen in the loss for Hampden Academy (1-5). MED. VALLEY 2 MORSE 0

KITTERY — Matt Rines scored three-and-a-half minutes into the second half, breaking a 1-1 tie, as Richmond downed Traip Academy in a non-conference tilt.

Zach Small assisted Rines with the decisive goal as the Bobcats improved to 7-0. Richmond visits Rangeley on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Andrew Vachon scored on an assist from Dakotah Gilpatric 10 minutes into the contest.

Traip’s Pedro Lopez knotted the score when he scored off a pass from Charlie Driscoll with 27:53 remaining in the half.

Rines added an insurance goal with 23:47 remaining after he carried the ball down the sidelines while Ranger (4-2) defenders chased him. Rines was able to make a cut towards the net and sent his shot past goalie Jayce Neilsen (five saves).

Although Traip outshot Richmond, 12-11, the Bobcats were able to hold off the Rangers behind the strong play of Danny Stewart, Nathan Kendrick and Nick Adams, while Trystin Shea turned away eight shots in net.

Girls soccer

BATH — Emily Martin scored on a penalty kick in the first half to lift Morse to a 2-0 KVAC win over Medomak Valley at McMann Field.

The Shipbuilders ended a two-game slide to improve to 4- 2-1. Morse visits Lincoln Academy on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

After Medomak Valley packed in on defense in the opening half, Morse came out intent on upping its lead.

“Most of the second half was played in the Panthers’ defensive end,” said Morse coach Steve Boyce.

The Panthers continued to play solid defense, but the Shipbuilders found a way as Madeline Mitchell found Martin, who headed the ball into the net for a 2-0 edge.

The defense of Paige Faulkingham, Mae Winglass, Emma Gould, Samantha Ramsey and Kali Pierce protected Morse keeper Marissa Parks, as she recorded her first shutout of the year with 15 saves.
