WISCASSET — The Wiscasset Parks and Recreation Department is hosting Scott’s Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit & Run competition on Saturday at Wiscasset High School.
The event begins at 1 p.m. and is the official skills competition of MLB. This program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete — free of change — in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/ softball skills.
Boys and girls in four age divisions — 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14 — have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including the team championships at MLB ballparks. The national finals is set during MLB’s All-Star week.
The individual pitching, hitting and running champs, along with the All-Around winner in each division will be awarded, advancing to the sectional level of competition.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to competing.

It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
