BANGOR

The Bath YMCA girls gymnastics team traveled to Bangor April 29-30 for the State YMCA Championships hosted by the Bangor YMCA at Eastern Maine Community College.

Earning a top spot for Bath was Alamea McCarthy, with her incredible first-place finishes on bars and floor. Her 9.350 on bars and 9.175 on floor earned her the top spot in the all-around for the Excel Gold Age 12 Division.

High School student Gabriella Taylor earned two first- place finishes on vault and bars with scores of 8.50 and 9.20 for the Excel Gold, 15- 18 Group.

Another Excel Gold gymnast, Tori Hersey from the 13-14 age group took first on bars with her score of 9.00.

In the Excel Silver Age 12 Division, three Bath gymnasts had first-place finishes. Michaela Anderson was first on bars with a 9.4 score; Emma Dobransky placed first for her 9.00 vault; and Arianna Baker placed first with her floor routine score of 9.15.

In the Excel Silver, Age 11 group, Caroline Thelan finished first with her 9.275 vault. In the same age group, teammate Marissa Zavitz scored 9.075 for her floor routine, taking first place.

In the Level 2, age 8 Group, Bath’s Neela Forestell placed first on vault with her 8.850 score.

In Level 3, Ages 12- 13, Charlotte Hilton’s score of 9.1 on vault earned her a first place win.

In the Level 6, Age 11- 12, Elizabeth Bingham tied for first place on vault with her score of 9.050.

This upcoming weekend, qualifying Bath gymnasts will travel to Kents Hill to compete in the Regional YMCA Championships.

Clinic June 3

On June 3, the gymnasts will be hosting a free clinic for young gymnasts at the Bath YMCA.

On June 23rd, the gymnasts will have a “ Gala Performance” that is open to the public. A drawing for an “American Girl Doll” will also take place that night.

Tickets for the raffle are $ 5, and can be purchased from a gymnast, coach, or on the day of the raffle. The winner does not need to be present to win.
