KENNEBUNK

Behind a dominant complete game effort from Josh Spaulding, the Freeport High School baseball team blanked Kennebunk, 3-0 in Western Maine Conference action on Monday.

Spaulding struck out five over seven innings of work and gave up just seven hits while walking a pair.

Bennett Hight drove in two on an RBI single in the first inning for Freeport (3- 3), which will host Cape Elizabeth on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Heath Cockburn, Jack Sawicki, Joe Burke, Josh Burke, Max Doughty and Colby Wagner all singled in the winning effort.

Kennebunk fell to 2-7 on the season.

Softball

WISCASSET — Wiscasset’s six runs weren’t enough as the Wolverines fell to Dirigo, 20-6, in Mountain Valley Conference play.

August Moore pitched for Wiscasset, while Maeve Blodgett doubled in a pair of runs in the loss. Paige Adams added an RBI, while Sydnie Thayer added a single and a run.

Ashley Perrault pitched for Dirigo with nine strikeouts. Alexa Varnum doubled and singled for the Cougars, while Lillie Williams and Maddie DeGroot each singled three times.

Wiscasset fell to 0-6 and visits Lisbon on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

BRUNSWICK — Defending state champion Messalonskee (5-0) received seven goals from Ally Turner in a 15-3 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Brunswick.

The Dragons fell to 3-2 and host Morse on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Turner and Lauren Pickett, who had four goals, each dished out two assists.

Dina Murphy tallied a pair of goals for Brunswick, while Emily Coffin had one goal. Mikaela Aschbrenner turned away 12 shots in the Dragons cage.
