LEWISTON — The Bates College women’s tennis team won each singles match in straight sets in defeating Wheaton (Mass.) College, 8-1 in a non-conference match Friday in Merrill Gymnasium.
The visiting Lyons (8-9) won their lone point in a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles, where Ines de Bracamonte and Isabelle Garvanne edged Bates sophomore Bella Stone and junior Maisie Silverman of Brunswick, 9-8.
Silverman downed de Bracamonte, 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, setting the tone for a Bobcat sweep the rest of the way.
On Saturday, the Bobcats rolled to an 8-1 NESCAC win over Connecticut College.
Silverman and Stone earned an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
In singles, Silverman dropped a tough 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 match to Camels top player Aleksandra Drljaca.
Bates is 6-10 overall, 3-4 in the NESCAC. The Bobcats host Colby on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
