BRUNSWICK — The University of Southern Maine women’s track and field team finished third among the 10 teams competing at the annual Aloha Relays held at Bowdoin College on Friday and Saturday.
The Huskies amassed 107.50 points to take the third spot in the final team standings.
Host Bowdoin cruised to the top of the podium with 217 points to easily outdistance runner-up Bates College, which had 112 points. Husson University was fourth with 83.50 points.
Southern Maine won four events during the meet, including the 4 x 100-meter relay. The foursome of Jhanel Potts, Neka Dias, Liz O’Neal (Brunswick/Mt. Ararat) and Adela Kalilwa won in a time of 49.11, the fourth fastest time in USM track history.
The Huskies also earned a fourth-place showing in the 4 x 800 relay, with Brunswick’s Jasmine Boyle among those competing for USM.
Southern Maine seeks to extend its string of 17 consecutive Little East Conference outdoor titles at the New England Alliance/LEC/MASCAC Championships meet at Westfield (Mass.) State University this upcoming weekend.
