Physical therapists at Head to Toe Physical Therapy of Topsham are using technology to help patients during their rehabilitation. Historically patients in physical therapy are sent home with paper instructions of exercises to complete between appointments. However, research shows poor compliance, resulting in slow recovery. Last month, Head to Toe implemented new technology to help guide their patients to a full recovery.
“As a physical therapist, I want to give my parents everything they need to get better,” said Dr. Christina Levesque. “We are excited to roll out this technology to our patients. The Healigo app allows patients to see videos of their exercises and reminds them to complete their program on a daily basis.”
Designed by physical therapists and health-care technology expects, Healigo allows patients to access their PT program directly from their mobile device. The clinically-validated app taps into theories of behavioral change to keeps patients engaged and on track for faster recovery.
