
He was born Feb. 25, 1931 in Biddeford, a son of Emile N. and Lillian (Dube) Verville and was educated at St. Joseph and St. Andre’s schools before attending the high school of the Brothers of Christian Instruction in Alfred from 1946 to 1950.
After graduating, Mr. Verville served with the USAF from 1951 to 1955, during the Korean Conflict.
On Sept. 3, 1956, he married Aline Langevin at St. Andre Church.
From 1957- 1961, Mr. Verville worked at the Pepperell Mills and Saco Lowell.
In 1961, he applied and was accepted into the Pipefitter Apprentice Program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1993 as a foreman of Shop 56. Following his retirement from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Normand became caretaker of the Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford until 2003, and also volunteered for the House of St. Joseph, collecting and distributing goods to the needy.
In the mid-1970’s, Normand attended York County Community College where he earned and received an associates degree.
Preceding him in death were: three brothers, Gerald in 2015, Robert in 1990, and Richard in 1979; and one sister, Joan Valcourt in 1989.
Surviving are: his wife of 60 years, Aline Verville of Biddeford; two sons, Michael Verville and his wife, Mary, of Portland, and Mark Verville and his wife, Vanda, of Mebane, North Carolina; two daughters, Louise Fraioli of Biddeford and Patricia Curtis of Biddeford; three sisters, Jeannette Landry of Meriden, Connecticut, Claudette Panecassio of Windsor Lockes, Connecticut, and Madeleine Rogers of Dayton; seven grandchildren, Tara Zachary and her husband, Brandon, of Mebane, North Carolina, Alexandra Chace and her husband, Stephane, of Smithfield, Rhode Island, Patrick Verville and his fiancé, Brittany Calder, Anthony Verville, Micary Verville of Portland, and Noah Fraioli and Michael Fraioli of Smithfield, Rhode Island; two great-grandchildren, Noah Zachary and Mason Zachary of Mebane, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel.
