Virginia M. (Pesce) Bagley, 78, of Old Orchard Beach, formerly of Saco, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born in Portland, on May 28, 1938, the daughter of Fred and Josephine (Pratico) Pesce. Virginia, or “Ginny” as many called her, attended Cathedral High School in Portland, where she was the girl’s free throw basketball champ in 1949.

Ginny married Newman Bagley in 1959. In 1982, she received her bachelor of arts degree in Social Work from University of Southern Maine and worked for several social service organizations. She was a lifelong advocate for protecting all children.

Ginny was an avid gardener, enjoyed Bruce Springsteen songs, wine, lasagna and fried clams. She was a skilled card player, including Bridge, (where she awed many), and “7’s.”

Ginny lived with her daughter Charlotte, who provided loving care, especially in the last several years as Ginny became debilitated from Alzheimer’s Disease. Ginny’s family is very grateful for the care Ginny received at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
