TOPSHAM

Members of the public are invited to an official launch party for Uivo, a new secure personal property identification system, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 3, from 5-9 p.m., at the Sea Dog Brewing Company on Main Street in Topsham.

Refreshments will be served and door prizes awarded.

Uivo (pronounced “wee-vo”) is an emergency contact system for your personal property that works securely and directly with public safety dispatch centers. If your house is vandalized or burglarized, your car involved in a hit-and-run, boat found floating down a river, or stolen bicycle located, authorized public safety personnel can use Uivo to contact you.

Registered customers of Uivo receive stickers, featuring an identification number, to place on any property. In the event of an emergency, 911 dispatchers can match your identification number to contact information in a secure database available only to official 911 dispatchers, and contact you about your property.

“I created Uivo based on my experiences,” said Emily McDorr, a Brunswick dispatcher for 15 years. “In the dispatch center, we frequently struggle to track down contact information to provide to police officers, firefighters, paramedics and to use to contact the owner themselves. Uivo bridges this gap.”
