PHIPPSBURG — The Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association has dedicated its Outdoor Education Center to the memory of John Rogers.
Roger’s memory was honored in a brief dedication ceremony during the Sportsmen’s Association’s 60th Anniversary Celebration on Dec. 21.
Rogers relatives Warren Doughty Jr., Warren Doughty Sr., granddaughters Jodi St. Onge and Suzy Murray, and daughter Peggy Doughty were present for the dedication.
Rogers was a Phippsburg resident and an avid supporter of the activities of the Sportsmen’s Association. He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman and educator, and his encouragement and support were important to so many.
After the dedication ceremony, Dana McLean noted that the club had been honored as Sportsmen’s Association of the Year by the Sportsmen’s Alliance of Maine. The honor was in recognition of the club’s youth activities like the Winter Youth Field Day, the Summer Youth Field Day and Kayak Fishing Derby, and its other work to preserve Maine’s outdoor heritage.
