BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department begins a coed basketball league for grades 9-12 beginning Thursday.
There will be one weekly game on Sundays starting Jan. 17, with the program ending on March 15.
T-shirts and game schedules will be handed out at the first practice. The cost is $55 for residents, $72 for nonresidents.
Registration can be done at the Brunswick Rec. A placement clinic will be held on Jan. 7 from 7-8 p.m. at the Rec.,. and the first practice/scrimmage kicks off on Jan. 13.
The program relies heavily on parent volunteers, and coaches are needed, along with time keepers and scorekeepers. The Rec. will hold a coach training session (National Youth Sports Coaches Association), which is a four-hour class.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
