BREWER — Cassy Green hit a walk-off two-run home run in the seventh inning as Brewer came from behind for a 6-4 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Mt. Ararat on Tuesday in high school softball action.

The Eagles, 3-5 and slated to host Bangor today at 4 p.m., jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning lead. Kayleigh Temple tripled to score Alana Weaver, and Katelyn Cox followed with an RBI double for a 2-0 lead. Cox later scored on a sacrifice fly ball by Kate Guerin.

Mt. Ararat claimed a 4-3 edge in the sixth when Rhiannon Hersey scored on a Brewer error.

In the Witches seventh, Sara Pellegriano tied the game with an RBI double, and Green followed with a home run.

Weaver and Hersey combined on eight hits, two strikeouts and three walks on the mound.

Brewer scored four runs in the third inning to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 6-1 KVAC victory over Mt. Ararat.

Kevin Carter doubled and Harper Moutal drove him in with a single to give the Eagles (0-8) a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Matt Pushard’s sacrifice fly in the home half of the opening frame tied it, and his tworun double in the third put the 6-2 Witches ahead to stay.

Evan Riva went the distance for Brewer on three hits and one run. He struck out eight and threw just 77 pitches.

Carter and Liam Brannigan pitched for Mt. Ararat, which hosts Bangor today at 4 p.m.
