TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat High School jayvee softball team put together 22 hits en route to a 10-7 victory over Mt. Blue on May 1. However, four days later the Eagles found trouble with Oxford Hills, falling 6-3 to bring their record to 3-2.
Against Mt. Blue, Summer Becker and Ashley Prout produced 4-for-4 performances, with Prout collecting an RBI. Laura Secone hit two doubles and a single, while Meghan Murphy contributed an additional three hits. Shelby Moore, Kristen Graffam and Olivia Merrymen all had 2-for-4 performances.
Graffam went the distance on the hill for the Eagles, striking out four and walking one.
Three unearned runs did enough damage for the Vikings to pick up the victory on Tuesday. Becker collected two base-knocks in the contest. Secone, Kaitlyn Rancourt, Graffam, Nataleigh Ormsby and Murphy combined for five more hits, with Secone and Graffam adding doubles to their side of the stat sheet.
Morgan Johnson pitched all seven innings in the game, fanning four batters and issuing four walks.
