AUBURN — Margaret Dickinson made a clutch free throw with seconds remaining in overtime, and Brianna Newton grabbed an offensive rebound off the second Dickinson free-throw attempt and put in a lay-up to give the Brunswick High School jayvee Orange” girls basketball team a 42-39 win over Edward Little on Wednesday.

The game was a back-andforth defensive match-up throughout as the Dragons opened up with a 9-8 first quarter advantage and maintained the one-point lead at halftime, 20-19.

The Red Eddies took the lead away from Brunswick with a 7-2 third quarter advantage. Late in the fourth quarter, Sabrina Armstrong scored all of her team-high eight points, while Brooke Barter nailed the tying basket before time expired in regulation to send the game to a fourminute overtime.

Francesca Haines scored 13 points for EL.

In earlier action, the Dragons fell to Cony, 57-48, in season opening action.

The Rams outscored Brunswick 21-9 at the freethrow line and held quarter leads of 14-11, 30-24 and 47-42.

Dickinson had 16 points, while Brianna Newton chipped in nine points along with Barter. Newton was a defensive standout.
