STANDISH — Freshman midfielder Bailey Cutler of Lisbon Falls scored a team-record four goals to help Saint Joseph’s College (10-1, 4-0 GNAC) topple Mount Ida College (4-7, 0-4 GNAC), 9-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey match at Mercy Field on Saturday afternoon.
Cutler scored three times in the first half – including a pair within 31 seconds in the 35th minute – and added her fourth off a corner 4:01 into the second stanza to become the first player in the 20-year history of the Monks’ field hockey program to score four goals in a game.
Cutler’s quick strikes lifted the Royal Blue to a 6-0 cushion heading into intermission.
The Monks have won eight consecutive games. The winning streak is tied for the longest in team history – the Monks rattled off eight straight victories to begin the season.
Saint Joseph’s plays at Johnson & Wales University in a conference contest this upcoming Saturday.
