Kim Talbot has worked for large and small businesses in the area and has owned a business. She understands the plight of business in Maine and of the worker. Kim wants to help people, not support them. She wants to reduce unemployment and return people to work by stimulating the economy.
Businesses need the support of the Legislature. The better a business does, the more employees they need and the more money spent to help the economy. We can’t continue to raise taxes on business and individuals without paying attention to the effect the tax burden is having on people and businesses. By improving the economy we increase tax revenues which in turn allows the state to increase needed programs.
Kim and Dean have raised two children in Topsham and have been active in supporting school activities.
Kim was active in the Mt. Ararat Sports Boosters club, helping with many of their activities and fund raisers. Both children attended University of Maine system schools. She is aware of issues facing both local public schools and the state university system.
Voting for Kim Talbot for representative of House District 54 is a vote to support reasonable and intelligent thinking in Augusta.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
