I want a candidate who has the experience managing public money in a responsible manner and who can make the tough decisions to balance a budget. Free-market capitalism provides the best path to wealth creation and job creation in the private sector. This is the only path which will provide the kind of future for young adults to live here in Maine. I also want a candidate who can provide the skills to restore liberal arts education into public education. The purpose of education is the shaping of a human being, intellectually and morally, into a responsible, wise adult.
I support Brian Hobart who is a candidate who truly cares about the future of our state and country. Brian Hobart is a candidate for House District 55 for the towns of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham and Richmond. Brian is a Bowdoinham native and lives with his wife Susie of 33 years on their farm on Ridge Road. After high school, Brian did a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force as a Crash/Rescueman. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as well as a Commercial Pilots License and Advanced Instructor Ratings. In addition to fireman and pilot, he has operated several small businesses, spent nine years as Lisbon’s Director of Public Works and has now returned to his roots as a farmer. He is currently serving his fourth term on Bowdoinham’s Select Board.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
