BRUNSWICK — At the annual Celebration of Athletic Excellence on May 19 the Dartmouth College Department of Athletics honored seven individual student-athletes and several teams for their achievements in 2013-14.

The most outstanding male athlete of the year was presented the Alfred E. Watson Trophy with the honor going to Brunswick senior Will Geoghegan of the men’s cross country and track teams.

A two-time All-American across two seasons of competition this year, Geoghegan posted the top finish by a Big Green male at the cross country national championship meet in over a decade, taking 14th place. He claimed fifth in the mile at the indoor championships hosted by New Mexico in March after setting a program and Ivy League record of 3:58.04 in the event earlier in the season.

He also took down a 25- year-old Dartmouth record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 7:51 during indoor season, plus ran the anchor for the distance medley relay (DMR) team that won a Heps title in Hanover, cementing his dominant role on the track in 2013-14.
