BATH — Maine journalist, novelist and raconteur Crash Barry (author of Sex, Drugs and Blueberries and Tough Island) will visit Patten Free Library in Bath on Tuesday, June 3 at 7:00pm as part of his Summer 2014 Maine library tour promoting Marijuana Valley.
Amid shifting public perception and governmental attitudes toward marijuana, Crash’s new book provides an in-depth look at a slice of Maine’s cannabis subculture during the waning days of pot Prohibition. This non-fiction account tells the true story of a pair of legal grow operations in the summer of 2010 and details the stressful process of cultivating the State’s most valuable crop.
Barry’s tales and performances are dramatic, compelling and a little risqu?. Therefore, this program is suitable for adults only.
Crash Barry has worked as a columnist, newspaper reporter, radio journalist, sailor, bartender, sternman, demolitionist, janitor, herdsman, cow milker and blueberry raker. His column One Maniac’s Meat has appeared monthly in The Bollard since July 2008.
