Celebrate spring and the diversity of natural species on our planet with Spindleworks and Arts Are Elementary, who are hosting a community wide parade on Friday, May 9. Everyone is welcome to join in, dressed as or carrying a representation of their favorite species. Creative visual interpretations of species are welcome and it is requested that live animals, motorized vehicles (aside from motorized wheel chairs), and slogans or words are left at home. Those interested in participating should gather on the town mall at 4 p.m. for a prompt 4:30 p.m.start. The parade will head down Maine Street towards the river, take a right on Bank Street, another right on Federal Street, and a final right on School Street back to the town green. The parade will end just as the first ArtWalk of the season begins.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
