TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School ‘A’ field hockey team hosted Bath Middle School Wednesday and lost, 2-1.
Both teams played well and had many opportunities to score.
Bath took advantage of a miscue by the Eagles defense and scored on a blistering shot past goalie Lily Schenk. In the second half Bath scored again.
On a Mt. Ararat corner, Wylie FitzPatrick passed to Katie Trebilcock, who fed the ball in toward the goal cage and Abby Malbon got her stick on it to tip it in. The Eagles put pressure on Bath in the final minutes, but failed to score against a strong Bath defense and stellar goaltending.
The Eagles are 2-2-1 and play today in Auburn.
