BRUNSWICK — Brunswick masters swimmer Dave Bright claimed a gold medal in the grueling 400-meter individual medley at the U.S. Masters Long Course Championships, held recently in Mission Viejo, Calif.
Bright, who is the head coach of the Brunswick High School swim team and the Polar Bear Masters workout group, swims in the 60-64 age group.
He also finished third in the 200 IM, sixth in the 200 backstroke, eighth in the 100 back and 12th in the 800 freestyle.
Phippburg’s Bob Nelson (65-69 age group) made the awards podium with two swims, placing fifth in the 200 breaststroke and sixth in the 1,500 free. His 50 breast time was good for ninth place and his 200 IM was 10th.
