BRUNSWICK — Peace- Works will honor Jamie Silvestri and ArtVan with this year’s Peacemaker Award.

ArtVan, a nonprofit outreach art program, brings the creative process to people who don’t have other access to making visual art. The colorful Van arrives on a regular basis in Bath and Brunswick neighborhoods to engage young people in art play and exploration activities.

ArtVan’s outreach programs include projects with Oliver Place Teen Shelter in Bath, programs with The Highlands short-term memory unit, and more.

Silvestri is a visual artist whose undergraduate and graduate education included degrees in illustration and expressive art therapy with clinical experience in traditional psychiatric settings.

She has offered art programs to youths at the Bath Skate Park and through the Bath Recreation Department, and got a Community Development Block Grant to take art directly into the neighborhoods.

The Peacemaker award will be presented at 10 am on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Peace Fair on the Brunswick Mall.
