WARREN — A 37-year-old Wiscasset man was arrested Thursday night and charged with a series of offenses.
The Knox County Sheriff ’s Office said the case started as a domestic violence assault case in which James Clark assaulted someone. Sheriff Donna Dennison said Clark then stole a Dodge Neon from the parking lot of Odd Fellows Hall in Warren. The keys had been left in the vehicle.
The vehicle crashed a short time later in Waldoboro, the sheriff said.
A joint effort by the Knox County Sheriff ’s Office, Waldoboro police, Maine State Police, Wiscasset police and the Lincoln County Sheriff ’s Office resulted in the apprehension of Clark.
He was charged with domestic violence assault, criminal mischief, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, operating after revocation as a habitual offender and operating under the influence.
He was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland where he was being held without bail on Friday morning.
He will be making court appearances in both Knox and Lincoln counties. His initial Knox County appearance is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
