WISCASSET — Have you turned down a chance to go out with family or friends because you were concerned about falling? “A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls” could be for you.
Mid Coast Hospital and Wiscasset Community Center offer the program 10 a.m. to noon Mondays and Wednesdays, March 11 through April 3, at Wiscasset Community Center, 242 Gardiner Road.
Fear of falling can be just as dangerous as falling itself. People who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in severe physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater.
The program fee is $15. A workbook, refreshments and many additional resources will be provided during the class series. For more information, or to register, call 882- 8230.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
