To the Editor:

One of the biggest questions lately in the news has been the issue of Lance Armstrong’s apology on the Oprah show.

I think it was good for Armstrong to come clean, but I can’t forgive him for his actions and participating in the use of performance enhancing drugs.

Frankly, it has hurt his reputation by waiting to come clean now after all the previous years of lying.

I’m a fan of Lance Armstrong. I think his athletic story is amazing and his competitive drive is like no one else’s on this planet. That said, I still feel that it was very wrong and unprofessional to use performance enhancing drugs. I feel like Armstrong, with what he has been through, and his drive to compete, could have won all the medals that he did in his career without using performance enhancing drugs.

I just wonder to myself why Armstrong brought himself to the point of cheating, even though he was already a professional and famous for his journey as a cancer survivor. Since most of the riders during Armstrong’s era were doing performance enhancing drugs, I think all of this lying over the years hurt Armstrong’s reputation the most. Armstrong still has a special spot as an athlete in my heart. I just think to myself, why did he do it this way?
