To the Editor:
I am shocked and saddened to see that the smear campaign to close Parkview Hospital is still ongoing.
Why can’t it be understood that the patients who choose Parkview as their hospital of choice do so because of the excellent, loving care they receive from the moment they walk through the doors? Our patients are comfortable and made to feel like family here.
Mid Coast has patients that are loyal to that hospital and that’s fine.
The bottom line is that patients deserve to have a choice of where they go to receive medical care. That was made clear at the hearing held by the state last October.
Let’s honor the needs and the will of the patients, who have made their wishes known, and stop all of this hospital politicking.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
