The Mrs. and I were invited to a spaghetti-and-meatball supper by Cub Scout Troop 202 from Topsham. It was a fundraiser for the troop, and they used some of the funds to buy toys for our campaign.

You did a fantastic job, boys.

Thank you to Scout Master Dave Remis and Hampton Hughes for putting the program together.

I want to mention all the mothers and wives, fathers and husbands who helped Saturday night. The baked goods were terrific and spaghetti and meatballs were just the way I like it. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. I have invited the boys to stop by the North Pole Annex. They are curious to see what happens to the toys we get ready for Santa. I’ll take some extra time to show them around after school next week. See you soon, Scouts!

— We now have packed toys for 67 boys and 69 girls. That’s a total of 136 children.

Volunteers are waiting for more requests as they spend each morning at the North Pole Annex. While they are available to help, you should get those letters in the mail.

Donations are building each day.

We received gifts from Richard and Elizabeth Bray, $50; Sandra and Stanley McCurdy, $100; Joanne and John Olson, $25; Captain and Mrs. Chuck Mull, $100; and a $50 donation in memory of Arthur Johansen and daughter Debbie Johansen, by Barbara Johansen. Arthur was a volunteer at the Santa Claus Fund when it began.

Electa Chapter No. 2 O.E.S. sent $25, Corley Anne Byras sent $50 in memory of George S. Byras, Dorothy Stetson donated $100, the Roadway Motel donated $25, Ceita Toothaker gave us $5, Warming’s Market Inc. gave $25, Lee’s Tire of Brunswick and Topsham donated $50, and the Summer Island Studio gave us $20. Thank you to all of you. We couldn’t do this without your support.

Our new total is $3,150. Our goal is $30,000 — an ambitious goal, but a necessary one.

— We need your help. If you would like to make a contribution, send it to: The Santa Claus Fund Inc. at P.O. Box 278, Brunswick, Maine 04011.
