Several local school systems were honored for supporting the Healthy Kids Initiative, which seeks to expand healthful food and recreational opportunities for students.
In Androscoggin County, Laugh and Learn and Regional School Unit 5 RCE Laugh & Learn, both in Durham, won Gold awards.
In Cumberland County, Family Focus, in Brunswick, Laugh and Learn in Freeport, and RSU 5 RCE Laugh & Learn operations at Mast Landing School and Morse Street School, both in Freeport, all won Gold awards.
In Sagadahoc County, Family Focus at Dike Newell School and Family Focus at Bath Early Learning Center, both in Bath, won Gold; Bath Regional Career and Tech Center Child Care in Bath, won Silver; and School Administrative District 75’s school-based health center at Mt. Ararat High School, in Topsham, and Richmond Area Health Center, Richmond, also were recognized.
In Lincoln County, Wiscasset Head Start won Gold while Wiscasset Primary School won Silver.
