Maine Eastern Railroad’s Candy Cane Train to benefit Tri-County Literacy will operate from Bath to Wiscasset on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15-16.
The Candy Cane Train will run a total of eight round trips. In all cases, Santa will visit passengers on the train, and on-board activities will include sing-a-alongs, story telling and good family fun.
Maine Eastern Railroad has been operating Christmas Theme train rides in Rockland since 2005; and in Bath since 2006. The railroad has been recognized for providing one of the more scenic and lively Christmas train events in Maine, and was featured in the December 2011 issue of Kiwanis International magazine.
Gordon Page, vice president of Maine Eastern Railroad, said the railroad provides professional crew and equipment while members of the Kiwanis Club of Rockland and supporters of Tri-County Literacy in Bath provide volunteers to prepare costumes and to staff trains.
For the Tri-County Literacy Candy Cane Train, ticket prices are $17 per person, regardless of age.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
