FREEPORT — L.L.Bean and Maine’s Area Agencies on Aging are joining Merrymeeting Bay Triad to keep needy seniors warm this winter with the Coats For Seniors collection drive.
The drive will culminate at the L.L. Bean flagship store Nov. 16-18 during the opening weekend of L.L. Bean’s Northern Lights Celebration. Volunteers from Triad, Maine’s Area Agencies on Aging and local communities will staff a collection table in the lobby to accept clean, gently worn adult winter coats which then will be distributed to seniors in need.
Several collection spots have been established for those interested in donating a coat. The sites are listed at www.maine4a.org. For more information, email lewicon@comcast.com or visit www.merrymeetingbaytriad.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
