BATH — On Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m, Patten Free Library, 33 Summer St., will present a special election night screening of “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.”
James Stewart, Jean Arthur and Claude Rains star in Frank Capra’s 1939 award-winning classic about an idealistic, small-town senator who heads to Washington and suddenly finds himself single-handedly battling ruthless politicians out to destroy him.
The supporting cast includes Thomas Mitchell, Beulah Bondi, William Demarest and Harry Carey. The film is not rated and has a run time of 130 minutes. It was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won the Oscar for Best Writing, Original Story.
