LISBON
The town is sponsoring a “meet the candidates” forum tonight at 6 at the town office.
Town Clerk Twila Lycette said all municipal candidates are welcome to attend and submit short introductions she will read to the audience.
After introductions, each candidate will be permitted a three-minute opening statement.
Lycette said this part of the meeting would be a good opportunity for write-in candidates to introduce themselves.
There are two vacancies on the Budget Advisory Board — which may be replaced by an appointed Finance Committee as a result of a local referendum question on the Nov. 6 ballot — as well as a vacant seat on the Water Commission.
Next, each of the candidates in the contested races — Greg Garrison and Eric Metivier for Council At Large and Tyler Golletti and Dillon Pesce for Council District 2 — will be asked four questions:
— What are your qualifications for the office you seek?
— What motivated you to run for office?
— Do you have sufficient time and energy to devote to the position?
— With one or two meetings a month, all boards are limited in what they can do. How should the board decide what’s most important?
The public will then be allowed to ask questions, which must not take more than one minute to ask.
The meeting will conclude with candidates providing a summation in no more than two minutes.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
