MOST OF THE PEOPLE at Wednesday night’s opening of Campus Commons in Lisbon Falls were taking a walk down memory lane. The Old Lisbon High School building, vacant since 2005, has been converted into a 12-unit affordable housing complex for senior citizens. Although seniors who came to the opening ceremony were not applying to live in the building, they wanted to come and see what changes and alterations had been done.

The Old Lisbon High School building, vacant since 2005, has been converted into a 12-unit affordable housing complex for senior citizens. Although seniors who came to the opening ceremony were not applying to live in the building, they wanted to come and see what changes and alterations had been done. “So many nice old buildings get torn down nowadays. … My dad went to high school here and I went to grade school, so there is a lot of history,” said Lola Carlson, at right. The building — designed by Maine architect William R. Miller and built in the early 1900s in Romanesque Revival style — has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2007.
