BETHEL — The Hyde School cross country team opened its season in promising fashion, overcoming the difficult mountain terrain and rugged Nordic course to win the opening meet of the 2012 MAISAD cross country season.
Senior Isaac Preston teamed with captain Cody Mitchell to lead the charge, with a strong finish from Austin Wang helping the Phoenix to the win.
Hyde’s pack of runners consisting of Griffin Palola, Talin Rowe and Isaiah Mokeme ran together through most of the race. Hyde, placed four runners in the top 10 positions and six in the top 14 to run away with the meet.
The Phoenix are the defending MAISAD Prep School champions and were undefeated last season.
