HARPSWELL — Harpswell is adding a beach cleanup program modeled on its Adopt-a- Road program.
The focus of Harpswell’s Adopt-a-Beach Program is cleaning up the town’s accessible public shores.
Neighborhood groups are encouraged to join. Refuse should be separated into recyclable waste and trash. Dried seaweed should be left on the shore.
To deposit large nonrecyclable waste collected free of charge, participants just need to show their signed program agreement at the Harpswell Transfer Station.
Anyone wishing to participate may obtain agreement forms from the Town Office or download them from the town website, www.harpswell. maine.gov.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
