WISCASSET — The Southern Maine Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America Inc. is sponsoring an exhibit of Suzanne Bruno’s work at Stitcher’s Corner, 7 Washington St., now through Labor Day.
A news release describes the exhibit as follows:
The first exhibit in a planned series called “For the Love of Needle and Thread” features works by Bruno of Richmond. She is a member of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America, and a member of Crazy Quilters of Maine.
In 2011, she was the recipient of the Marvis Cohen Award, an award given for excellence. The pieces on display reflect Bruno’s passion for crazy quilting, a textile art of embellishing quilted pieces with button, lace, ribbons, beads and embroidery stitches.
Fabrics that are used for the quilt often include specialty fabrics such as velvet, satin, tulle or silk.
Visit the exhibit during shop hours 10 a.m. through 4 p.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
