WISCASSET — Texas Flying Legends Museum will land at Wiscasset Municipal Airport, 96 Chewonki Neck Road (Route 144), on Saturday and Sunday for the airport’s second annual free open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
A release from event organizers describes the weekend as follows:
The open house will feature aircraft displays of both modern and vintage aircraft, live music, food vendors, a P-51 ride raffle, and other events. Proceeds from the event will go to local charities, including the Wounded Warriors Foundation and the Wiscasset Chamber of Commerce College Fund.
TFLM features rare World War II vintage aircraft, including one of only two Japanese Zeros still flying in the world, a FG-1D Corsair, a P-40K, a P-51D Mustang and a Mitchell B-25 Bomber.
During the open house, the public will be able to see the planes up close, visit with the pilots, and enjoy food and entertainment throughout the day.
The public will also be able to see the planes launched for an airshow over Boothbay Harbor. The aircraft are scheduled to start engines at 10:45 a.m. for an 11 a.m. departure, returning about 45 minutes later. They will repeat the routine again later in the day.
