TOPSHAM

The second annual Sunrise Stampede will kick into gear at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, as one of the events featured during the Topsham Fair.

The 5K will benefit the Sagadahoc Agricultural and Horticultural Society, also known as the Topsham Fair.

Registration will start at 6:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Topsham Fairgrounds at 54 Elm St. Race-goers should enter at the race gate/tunnel entrance. The race begins and ends within the fairgrounds.

Fair gates open at 8 a.m., so any race spectators must be through the gates before then, or they will be charged the $10 admission to the fair, which is good for admission and rides for the entire day.

As requested by runners, the course this year will not incorporate the harness racing track because, according to the fair’s Facebook page, “As it turns out, running on the harness racing track is only fun for horses.”

The new route can be viewed at www.runningmap.com/?id=424977, as well as by visiting www.topshamfair.net or Topsham Fair Association on Facebook.

The cost of early registration is $16 and the cut off is Aug. 9 at noon. Same-day registration is $20.

Medals will go to the top male and female winners in the seven age groups. Raffle prizes include canteens, 3CRP hats, FuelBelts, RoadID kids, and more.
