ACTORS MOLLY ROBERTS, BRITTANY COOK AND ALLISON MCCALL rehearse a scene from William Shakespeare’s play “Macbeth” on the steps of Bowdoin College’s art museum. The three, who play the witches who open the play around a bubbling cauldron, are part of the Portland-based Fenix Theatre Co., which focuses on performing theater classics in open-air settings with few props. The production is the first of Shakespeare’s tragedies that Fenix will perform in its five years and kicks off a series of summer performances in Brunswick and Portland. The premiere will take place in Brunswick at 6 p.m. Thursday on the steps of the college’s art museum. Three more shows will take place on July 26, Aug. 2 and Aug. 9 at the same place and time. The shows are subsidized by the college and admission is free.
