To the editor:
As the saying goes, “Experience is the best teacher.”
This is especially applicable to candidates running for state office. Quite often, freshman legislators spend months trying to learn how the system of state government works.
Today, there are pressing issues facing Maine, so it is important that we elect someone who can hit the ground running. We are fortunate to have a candidate with the skills and experience to really make a difference for the city of Bath.
Jennifer DeChant worked in the State House as legislative aide, helping legislators develop and promote bills. She has been active in both the state and national Democratic parties. On the local level, she served Bath on the Planning Board, volunteered during the early days of the Main Street Bath organization and was an active member of the Bath Sunrise Rotary.
With two school-aged children, she is passionate about the quality of education our youth receive. She is currently public relations manager for the Maine-owned, environmentally conscious company, Sea Bags. It is her diverse experience and tireless energy in politics, community matters and business that we need in Augusta now.
Vote DeChant June 12.
