To the editor:
In the almost four generations I have lived on Earth, I have come to recognize, understand and appreciate the importance of the natural world to my health, comfort and enjoyment.
In support of the benefits of that world, I have spent many years of service on the Bath Community Forestry Committee and as a member in the local land trust. I have also, in those years, come to know Paul Johnson and found that he shares my understanding and appreciation. I have also found that he has the ability and skill to express the importance of the environment in a convincing manner. A skill that should be put to good use as our representative in Augusta.
Paul is a strong environmentalist. He understands the importance of Maine’s fields, forests and waters to our economy, our well being, and our connectedness to the world around us.
For these reasons I plan to vote for Paul Johnson in the June 12 primary. I urge everyone to come out and vote for him as well.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
